Jesus, the only begotten Son of God says: “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him” (John 4:24, 23).
“When ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him” (Matthew 6:7-8).
“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. [GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD]. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen” (Matthew 6:9-13).
“The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul” ( Proverbs 16:17).
“Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil” (Proverbs 4:25-27).
“In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death” (Proverbs 12:28).
“Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off” (Isaiah 33:17).
Our Lord, Savior and King Jesus says: “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat; because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:13–14).
“I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me” (Proverbs 8:17).
“For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD” (Proverbs 8:35).
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6).
“Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors” (Proverbs 8:34).
“The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD” (Lamentations 3:25-26).
If you hesitated to answer No, then you must come to knowledge of the truth by the word of God.
“God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God” (Psalm 62:11).
“The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that [THE RIGHTEOUS IS TAKEN AWAY FROM THE EVIL TO COME]. He shall enter into peace: [THEY SHALL REST IN THEIR BEDS, EACH ONE WALKING IN HIS UPRIGHTNESS]” (Isaiah 57:1-2).
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8), says: “He that loveth his life shall lose it; and [HE THAT HATETH HIS LIFE IN THIS WORLD SHALL KEEP IT UNTO LIFE ETERNAL]. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be” (Matthew 12:24-26).
“[AND FEAR NOT THEM WHICH KILL THE BODY, BUT ARE NOT ABLE TO KILL THE SOUL]: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28).
“Blessed are they that [HEAR THE WORD OF GOD, AND KEEP IT]” (Luke 11:28).
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall [NEVER SEE DEATH]” (John 8:51).
Let these words resonate in our daily lives spoken by the Apostle Paul saying: “For to me to [LIVE IS CHRIST, AND TO DIE IS GAIN]” (Philippians 1:21).
“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18).
“For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. [FOR WHETHER WE LIVE, WE LIVE UNTO THE LORD; AND WHETHER WE DIE, WE DIE UNTO THE LORD]: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living” (Romans 14:7-9).
“[EXAMINE YOURSELVES, WHETHER YE BE IN THE FAITH]; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that [JESUS CHRIST IS IN YOU]?” (2 Corinthians 13:5).
“[FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH, LAY HOLD ON ETERNAL LIFE], whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses” (1 Timothy 6:12).
“The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous” (Proverbs 15:29).
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe” (Proverbs 18:10).
“Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 124:8).
“I WILL lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore” (Psalm 121:1-8).
Every day that the sun sets on this earth, this ends the day time, and ushers in the night time. However, a day is coming when the sun will rise to usher in another day time but, the sun will not set as the previous day. The word of God says:
“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come” (Joel 2:31).
When this time of darkness comes upon the whole earth, let us be prepared having out lamps filled with oil, just as the ten wise virgins (Matthew 25:1-2, 5-13).
During this time of darkness, let us be obedient to the word of God, and NOT go to sleep or be led away with the cares of this life where untold numbers of people with be partying, drinking, indulging in pleasures and so on.
The Apostle Paul reminds us said: “Therefore let us [NOT SLEEP, AS DO OTHERS; BUT LET US WATCH AND BE SOBER]. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath [NOT APPOINTED US TO WRATH], but [TO OBTAIN SALVATION BY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST]” (1 Thessalonians 5:6-9).
Jesus says: “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen” (Revelation 1:7).
“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only” (Matthew 24:36).
“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come” (Matthew 24:42).
“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Matthew 24:27).
“Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not” (Luke 12:40).
“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to [STAND] before the Son of man” (Luke 21:36).
“Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch” (Mark 13:35-37).
“Behold, he [COMETH WITH CLOUDS]; and [EVERY EYE SHALL SEE HIM], and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen” (Revelation 1:7).
“For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89).
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God” (1 Corinthians 3:19).
“The thought of foolishness is sin:” (Proverbs 24:9).
We live in a world where the blockbuster movies of the day are based on children’s comic books; movie, music sports and other celebrities are worshipped as gods; the word mega is used as a prefix to symbolize a pinnacle of success: mega billionaire, mega yacht, mega church and so on; awards shows with an emphasis on fashion hits and misses; world records in just about everything; and the list goes on.
“Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity” (Ecclesiastes 12:8).
“Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is an enemy of God” (James 4:4).
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever” (1 John 2:15–17).
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2).
“Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read” (Isaiah 34:16).
Jesus says: “It is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God” (Luke 4:4).
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35).
“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted [WORD], which is able to [SAVE YOUR SOULS]” (James 1:21).
“Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away” (Psalm 144:4).
“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever” (Isaiah 40:8).
“For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89).
“As it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And the angel answered and said unto the women, ‘Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for [HE IS RISEN], as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you”’ (Mathew 28: 1, 5-9).
God sent his only begotten Son to take back and to restore what Satan has tried to steal at the zenith of time when he spoke lies to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
“Therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life” (Romans 5:18).
Every day of our lives when we drink a glass of water especially when we are thirsty, let us be reminded how much our Lord Jesus sacrificed for us on that day.
On the day our Lord Jesus was crucified, it was a very hot day. As he suffered in the heat assuredly he needed a drink of water; however, “They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink” (Matthew 27:34).
“And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?’ which is, being interpreted, ‘My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?’ And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, ‘Truly this man was the Son of God”’ (Mark 15:33-34. 38-39).
Jesus was crucified along with two thieves. It was customary after a crucifixion to break the legs; however, “when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs; but, one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water” (John 19:33–34).
“And he that saw it bare record and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe” (John 19:35).
This record of blood and water which came out of the pierced side of Jesus is significant as spoken of by John when he asked, saying:
“Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth” (1 John 5:5–6).
“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son” (1 John 5:9–10).
We must take a moment of silence in prayer this Good Friday to acknowledge the magnitude of God’s love for humankind (John 1:1-4, 14, 3:16-18). It doesn’t matter who we are in this world, if we want to be freed from this earth on the Last Day to make it to the next world without an end in New Heavens and a New Earth (Isaiah 65:17-18) (John 3:16-18, 14:2–3) (Ephesians 3:9-12) (2 Peter 3:13) (Revelation 21:1-2), the word of God says:
“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).
“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth” (Isaiah 53:4-5,7).
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus: who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time” (1 Timothy 2:5–6).
Many people are going about their daily lives, unfortunately, not taking the time to consider the magnitude of what the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ did for the human race thousands of years ago.
Today, we bring into remembrance Good Friday. During today we must take a moment in silence to pray to God in truth and spirit to give him thanks for given us his only begotten Son, in order that we may inherit the promise of eternal life (John 3:16-18, 12:32).
No amount of money on this earth can purchase salvation (Matthew 1:29).
“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, but with the [PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST], as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 18–19).
